Richard Bentley, 1836, Two volumes, octavo, later 3/4 brown morocco with gilded spines and top paper edge. Raised bands, brown cloth endpapers. Original cloth covers and spines bound in. 2nd edition in two volumes with 14 full page illustrations, including vignette title pages, drawn and etched by A, Hervieu. Provenance: bought at Baumann Rare Books. From the description of Baumann Rare Books that is laid in (see photo) : "This copy with Eugene Field book plates (possibly inserted by his son) and two original drawings, possibly by Field, but more likely by his son. (One is a humorous watercolor portrayal of the "lamentable end of V. Hugo", Signed "E. F. 93"" Very good condition. Only some light browning to endpapers, title pages and bookplates. Pages mostly clean, some with occasional light foxing. pages with plates have browning in the margins, not affecting illustrations. Binding solid and undamaged (protected in Mylar covers). Gilding Fine, no knicks or tears to pages or binding.
